The Asialink Writing Residency Program, which began in 1997, is a unique opportunity for Australian writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, history, essays, playwriting, young adult fiction, blogs, new media and interactive content to live and work for an extended period in Asia. The Walter Stone Award is given on the even biennial year for an original, unpublished manuscript to show some aspect of Australian History or have some Australian Historical significance. The prize is paid from a trust fund established by Margaret Stone to honour her late father. “Life Writing” is defined as biography, autobiography, memoir, monograph, bibliography. Biography and autobiography may be an extract to meet the word count requirements. Word count: minimum 10,000, maximum 25,000 words.

After the overwhelming success of the inaugural CAL Scribe Fiction Prize, we are pleased to announce that the prize money in 2011 has been increased to $15,000. The winning novel will also be published by Scribe.
Once again, we are searching for the best unpublished manuscript by a writer aged 35 or over. Entries are now open.

When a song is created do the words or music come first? Well the Australian Poetry Centre now gives the writer no choice! As an Australian poet/wordsmith, you are being set the challenge to write lyrics for a new hit single!
You will have until 30 September to submit lyrics for this new song, composed by established ARIA award-winning music composer/producer, James Roche, who will select the winning entry in consultation with a judging panel.
